Session 4- Facebook Live- Regulating your emotions

We’ll continue our weekly Facebook live chat tomorrow 12: 30 pm.

Last week, we covered the first soft skill that makes or breaks our success both in the temporal and spiritual worlds. Personal mastery is the foundation to get along with and lead others successfully. We cannot master what we don’t manage. We cannot manage what we don’t know. That is why we need to increase our self-awareness. We have an existing self-awareness. We are somewhere on the spectrum of self-awareness but we need to increase our awareness if our desire is to master self, get along with and lead others successfully, and in turn, enjoy success and fulfillment both in the temporal and spiritual worlds.

Tomorrow, we will cover the second soft skill very important to have personal mastery. We shall talk, first, the importance of acknowledging that we humans are emotional beings. Your emotions matter both in the market and workplaces and in your spiritual journey. You cannot master your destiny before you master your emotions.

Second, we need to recognize and fully understand the emotions that frequent us regularly. We cannot regulate emotions that we don’t know and understand. That means we need to increase our emotional self-awareness.

Third, we need to use emotions in our favor. Our ability to employ the right dose of emotions, according to the situation we find ourselves, determines our success both in the secular and the spiritual worlds.

In this session, I’ll share with you some insights, facts, and tools to help you increase your ability to regulate your emotions in your favor.

See you tomorrow.

Becoming a values-driven person like Jesus

“… Without values, we probably are swayed by anything and anyone. We’re like a ship without a compass- without a clear direction and not sure whether it reaches its destination. Once you have values, on the other hand, it is easier to make the right decision that propels you forward. When you have core values in place, you easily know what to say or not to say or what to do or not to do…” Page 163, The Highest Level of Greatness

Jesus’ clarity and commitment to His values attributed to His success here on earth more than 2 thousand years ago. According to His certain values, there were times He preferred to be silent, withdraw, and reserved. Other times, when His values were violated, He was confrontational.

He drove out those who were buying and selling from the Temple (Matthew 21: 12), called the hypocrites names 🙂 For instance, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.” (Matthew 23: 27) There were also times He showed compassion to forgive, heal, and embrace the unforgivable, the untouchables, and the trespassers. His words and actions were dictated by His values such as LOVE, Compassion, Loyalty, and Service…

Do you know your values? Do they dictate your words, behaviors, and actions? How far can you go to promote and/or protect your values?

Remember, no one became great without tapping into the power of values, without showing unwavering commitment to his/her values.

Yes, you’re greatness material. Becoming great is your birthright. God vowed to make Abraham’s name great (Genesis 12: 1). You’re the seed of Abraham through Christ (Galatians 3: 29). You are an heir of Abraham’s blessings. You can become great in your own way, impact the world, fulfill your assignment here on earth during your lifetime, and leave a legacy the next generations will benefit from. But, you cannot achieve these without becoming a values-driven person.

To learn more about the power of values, the benefits of becoming a values-driven person, the stories of those values-driven great ones, you should read the book ‘The Highest Level of Greatness’

Increasing self-awareness (video- Facebook Live)

Jesus, the last Adam, had the highest level of self-aware. He knew who He was, from where He came, what He supposed to do while on earth, where He was going, and more. He was very clear about His assignment. He was quoted as saying ‘for this, I have come’…

On the other hand, the first Adam lacked self-awareness. He didn’t know who he truly was, his authority, and place both in the universe and in the Kingdom of God. He had blind spots that opened the door for the devil to cheat him out of his garden where he was the Supreme Ruler.

Not the lack of power, intelligence, nor goodwill that led Adam’s fall. His lack of awareness about himself and the devil caused him to stumble. Not just Adam, many great ones fell from grace, mainly, from the lack of self-awareness than any other single reason.

Do you want to run the race, pursue your assignment on earth, fulfilling the very purpose you were created for, impact your generation, finally utter this most magical phrase: ‘It’s finished’, and leave a legacy? Well, begin increasing yourself awareness.

By the way, because of its importance, this soft skill is the foremost and number one soft skill (1 of 12). In this Facebook live session 3, Assegid shared some important insights from his book ‘Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success’, Jesus’ level of awareness, and how that allowed Him to succeed in both the temporal and spiritual worlds. He also gave a tool you can use to increase your self-awareness.

Remember, regardless of your religion (denomination), you need to learn from Jesus, who is considered as the most successful leader who ever walked on this planet. Many scholars, religious teachers, and authors from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and religions frequently quoted His words, parables, used His life (and approaches) as a model in their teachings and writings.

Follow-up blog after Session 3 Facebook Live on Increasing Self-awareness

In my conversations- both casual and formal, and coaching/mentoring sessions, by asking a few questions, I can easily tell individuals who are self-aware. These individuals quickly and articulately talk about who they are, what makes them passionate, what they stand for, their uniqueness, and strengths. They don’t hesitate to talk about who they are, why they are here, and what differentiates them from others. They also don’t shy away to share their stumblings and limitations.

However, once in awhile, I meet very few individuals who are unaware of who they truly are. They struggle to define who they are and what they stand for. They use generic words, and say ‘I’m a regular Joe/Jane’. Worst, they are clueless about their very limitations. The latter are in the open for everybody to see them except themselves (These are their blind spots). Unfortunately, they pride themselves as if they are ‘perfect’ and better than ‘others’. They are quick to judge the limitations and stumbling of others because they don’t know that they too have limitations and stumblings.

Most of these individuals who lack holistic self-awareness about who they are and their limitations and stumblings are good people except that they are self-deluded. They are in this mess because of self-abandonment and negligence. They didn’t do their homework.

I sympathize such individuals. I’m passionate to help them increase their self-awareness. I want them to know how they are greatness material. How the sky is the limit if they know who they truly are, why they are here, and the potential they carry. This is my calling. This is my purpose. That is why I blog, do facebook chats, coach, mentor, train, and write books. If you’re in this category, let me help you increase your self-awareness. You won’t regret the time and resources you invest on this.

Nonetheless, there are very few who have reasonable self-aware. They may know a little bit about their uniqueness, strengths, and their limitations and areas that need some attention but they pretend outwardly they know themselves very well. They don’t seek help, they don’t continually increase their self-awareness. They are their own prisoners. They know too little and that little they know stopped them from growing. It’s very hard to help someone who thinks know enough while he doesn’t. It takes humility to know and say that I don’t know enough. To admit that one needs help to grow.

Of course, very rarely, I meet very very few who know a lot about their strengths and limitations. They don’t shy away to talk about the former but little about the latter. I was in this camp. I shared that yesterday during session 3 of the facebook live based on my book Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success. Without knowing, I talked a lot about who I’m, my purpose, vision, values, and my accomplishments, and strengths without sharing the limitations and stumblings that I have experienced as much as I should. Because of that, I appeared (I may still appear to those who haven’t heard and read what I share, and those who don’t know me very well. I’m still working on that ) as someone who is prideful, someone who fakes it and acts like as if he is a superman without error and stumblings. Do you relate to that? What are you doing about this blind spot?

I also meet once in a while self-aware individuals who think that they can easily trick and deceive others if they appear flawless on the outside. Still, there are very few, who are self-aware but they care about their feelings. To feel better, they don’t want to admit that they too are flawed like everybody else. They are quick to judge and merciless against others, but they never use the same standards toward themselves.

If you ask me, those who lack holistic self-awareness and self-deluded are in a better position than the last two groups. The first group may one day realize that they need to work on their self-awareness. They may end up increasing their self-awareness when they uncover this negligence and/or blind spot.

I’m deeply worried about the last two groups who aren’t aware their pretending and acting as if they are perfect and flawless can easily be discerned and spotted by others who have a well-developed self-awareness. These individuals may continue to pretend in public and as they interact with others. This takes away their authenticity and credibility. These individuals may not change at all. They may remain stagnated. They may continue in their trickery…

There is nothing wrong to admit that you’re not made for certain things. There is no shame in owning your defeats and failures. Actually, those who are bold and take actions are the ones making mistakes. I don’t think that a boxing champion hides his scars. Let me ask you, are you bold enough to show your scars?

How much are you aware of yourself? Are you open to sharing your limitations and stumblings? Are you confident enough to admit that you’re not wired to do all things and there are areas you cannot master? Are you open to ask feedback from others and increase your self-awareness?

Check out the facebook chat I did yesterday on self-awareness. Let me know what you think abouthttps://www.facebook.com/AssegidHabtewoldMinistriesInc/videos/1530477333728110/

Manifesting Your Greatness Moment by Moment (10 min video clip)

In this episode of The Hour of Greatness, Mr. Restorer talked about manifesting your greatness moment by moment.

You are greatness material. Achieving greatness is your birthright. You’ve what it takes to manifest your greatness.

However, greatness is a journey. It doesn’t come by achieving one major milestone.

On your journey toward greatness, you need to use every moment to manifest your greatness. Since you don’t know which moment is a golden one, you should treat each moment seriously.

Using the story of Joseph in the Bible, in this episode, Mr. Restorer showed how Joseph used every moment, even while he was in the valleys, he brought out his best, his A-game, and finally manifested his greatness.

Session 2- Personal Mastery- March 12 @ 12: 30 pm

Facebook Live chat Session 2 (Introduction to Mastering Self), will be held as planned on March 12, Monday @ 12: 30 pm. These are some of the questions that will be addressed:
1. Why is personal mastery foundational?
2. What are the contributions of certain soft skills toward personal mastery?
3. What happens when we fail to master self?
4. How do we develop personal mastery?

By the way, on top of sharing with you some quotes, metaphors, insights, and tools, in the second session, I’ll compare the personal mastery of the first and last Adam. I’ll show you how the lack of personal mastery led the first Adam to stumble. On the other hand, how the personal mastery of the last Adam empowered Him to overcome temptations, and finally accomplish His assignment successfully.

If your desire is to succeed in both the temporal and spiritual worlds, you should begin with mastering self, the fight of all fights.

Any form of success isn’t in sight until you are convinced the significance of personal growth and begin working on it. Without this first and foundational step, you are helpless to change the world outside of you. The good thing is that, unlike many things for which you may not have control over, you have absolute control over yourself.

What you need is commencing developing those soft skills that enable you to attain personal mastery. You shouldn’t take this assignment casually. You don’t need to guess. You don’t need to struggle. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

Remember, there have been people who have already attained personal mastery. You can learn from their experience and customize the experience to fit your unique circumstance. There are some facts you need to know before you begin this rewarding journey so that you may avoid making lots of unnecessary mistakes and stumblings. There are also some tools that can help you accelerate your growth.

Join the chat and learn (also share your experience in this regard with others), then practice, and at the end of the day be in charge of self, and in turn, in charge of your glorious destiny!

If you may have any question and comment before and during the chat, don’t hesitate to ask and share, respectively.

Notes:

  • Invite those who may benefit from this conversation.
  • Those of you who could, it’s advisable if you get the book and read the session we cover ahead so that you could be able to participate actively, ask questions, share your thoughts, and so on. Here is the link to read the synopsis of the book, to download the first part of the book for free, and order it from Amazon: http://successpws.com/?page_id=2254
  • If you haven’t liked the Facebook page of Assegid Habtewold Ministries, please do so since the Live chat will be conducted on that page.

See you on Monday!
