Taking the High Road all the time (1- min video clip)

In this 1-minute of Power, Mr. Restorer talked about taking the High Road all the time.

It’s part of life. It happens to all. You’re not exceptional. As you go out to unleash your greatness, serve the world, some people may do so many things against you. They may hate, hurt, manipulate, despise, belittle, and cheat you.

In all these circumstances, forgive, forget, and take the High Road.

Don’t allow anyone to rent your heart. Free your heart.

You cannot remain in love without forgiving. You cannot advance in life, both in the temporal and spiritual worlds without loving.

Thus, forgive, forget, and take the High Road all the time…

FB Live chat on Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success both in the temporal and spiritual realms

Many personal and leadership development experts from diverse religions and cultural backgrounds have been quoting Jesus and His wise words. For example, management and leadership guru- Ken Blanchard wrote: “Everything I had ever taught or written about effective leadership during the past thirty-five years, Jesus did to perfection, beyond my ability to portray or describe. I realized that Christians have more in Jesus than just a spiritual leader; we have a practical and effective leadership model for all organizations, for all people, for all situations.”

Based on my book entitled Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success: 12 soft skills to master self, get along with, and lead others successfully, I will use Jesus as a role model and show you how the 12 soft skills recognized in the book allowed Jesus to succeed in His earthly ministry more than 2000 years ago. On top of Jesus, I’ll also use other Biblical characters, past and contemporary leaders from the corporate world who have had these soft skills that contributed toward their outstanding success.

I’ll share with you insights, stories, and most importantly, tools that can help you take your already existing soft skills to the next height. Whether you are looking for a job, desire to advance on the corporate ladder, open and/or grow your business, lead your community with excellence, you need to develop and improve your soft skills. This is especially transformational to the immigrant community in the Diaspora. Your talents, gifts, intellect, hard work, and so on aren’t enough to succeed in the West. You need to develop the 12 soft skills that make or break your success in the new culture where you live and work.

Remember, I wrote this book based on my experience as a trainer for some government agencies, major corporations, and non-profit organizations. These organizations pay thousands of dollars to offer workshops to their leaders, managers, supervisors, and team members on these themes. Thus, don’t miss this opportunity. It’s free.

Feel free to send questions and suggestions ahead of each live session. I’ll try my best to incorporate your comments and answer your questions. Remain engaged during the live chat as I’ll make sure to read your comments and answer your questions live.

If you haven’t yet, like our ministry’s facebook page so that you could be able to join the live chat when we launch it on March 5th, 2018. You may also invite others, who may benefit from this empowering weekly program, to like the page.

If you don’t have the book at hand, visit this link to download the first sections of the book including the Preface, Introduction, Outline, the Story the book was based on, and more: http://successpws.com/?page_id=2254

Why you should attend this coming Thursday’s workshop

This coming Thursday, February 15, 2018, @ 6: 30 pm at Marriott Marquis Washington DC, I’m going to facilitate a 2-hour workshop on the theme: Effective Communication Skills. Here are two strong reasons why you need to attend this workshop (or recommend someone) if you’re in the DC metro area.

1. The organizers. Your Ethiopian Professionals Network, known as YEP, is one of the most dynamic organizations that I personally know. I don’t usually endorse an organization just for the sake of it. I facilitated a workshop for the leadership team in 2012 or 2013 on mission, vision, branding, teamwork, and so on. I was so proud as an Ethiopian by their passion, unity of purpose, clarity, and professionalism of these young leaders. Don’t just believe my words. Because of their outstanding leadership, the organization has been growing exponentially. They have over five thousand members. Its members are diverse in profession, age group, gender, ethnicity, religion, and so on. Whether you’re new to the US or have been here for years, if your desire is to grow professionally, this is a group you have to join. You cannot grow and continue to succeed solo and without the network and support of like-minded professionals. Thus, use this opportunity to meet the leadership, its volunteers, and members. For more, check out their website: http://yepnetworks.org/

2. The theme, communication. One of my favorite motivational speakers- Les Brown said, “Communication is the number one tool to succeed in any endeavor.” Whether you are looking for a job, improve your relationships, advance on the corporate ladder, grow your business, serve and lead your community with excellence, you cannot do it without effective communication skills. You can have off the chart credential, out of this world talent and skills, and the zeal to serve, without communicating effectively, however, they are almost worthless. This is especially important to our community. Personal and professional developments are treated casually. I’ve met many talented Ethiopian professionals who overstayed in one position for years, not because they don’t have the qualification, experience, and drive; it’s due to the lack of certain soft skills like communication. I know many of you work hard and desire to succeed but hanging out with people from your profession alone is not enough. Reading textbooks of your profession alone isn’t sufficient to grow and advance in what you do. You need to invest in your personal and professional developments proactively. We need to incorporate this element in our culture. As a community, we need to develop personally and professionally constantly if our desire is to succeed individually and collectively. There is no shortcut. That was how other communities advanced, and enjoying prosperity and civilization- they developed the human potential of their people. By the way, government agencies, major corporations, and nonprofit organizations in the US that I serve as a facilitator pay thousands of dollars to arrange this kind of workshops for their staff, supervisors, managers, and executives. Now, YEP brought this to you for free. You shouldn’t miss this opportunity. If your desire is to go to the next level and continue advancing in what you do, you need to sharpen your communication ability. And, this engaging and interactive workshop empowers you to go to the next height in your communication skills. Becoming: Going beyond knowing and practicing the truth (1-min video)

We’re supposed to be spiritual- tap into our spiritual side, not religious.

One of the key factors, as you grow spiritually to tap into your unseen potential and the spiritual world, is to know as many truth as possible while you’re alive here on earth.

You cannot live a free and flourishing life without knowing the truth. Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8: 32)

The question is how many truths should I know to grow spiritually. According to Jesus, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16: 13) We don’t need to know the truth in Heaven. We’ll be with the truth. We need it now and desperately.

However, knowing is the beginning of this journey. We need to practice and finally become the truth we come to know. In this one-minute or so video clip, I talked about BECOMING: Going beyond knowing and practicing the truth.

Next week, I’ll have an Amharic Facebook Live to expand on this…

Upcoming Facebook Live for immigrants on Soft Skills

If you’re a leader, manager, or a supervisor or even a mere team member in any field, and if you’ve not read the little book ‘The One Minute Manager’, you should do it right away. “With more than two million hardcover copies in print, The One Minute Manager ranks as one of the most successful management books ever published.”

That being said, my goal here and right now is not to promote this book. I thought to share with you what the author, who is recognized as a management and leadership guru worldwide, Ken Blanchard said about Jesus. He wrote, “Everything I had ever taught or written about effective leadership during the past thirty-five years, Jesus did to perfection, beyond my ability to portray or describe. I realized that Christians have more in Jesus than just a spiritual leader; we have a practical and effective leadership model for all organizations, for all people, for all situations.” I conquer!

That is why based on my book entitled ‘Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success’, I will use Jesus as a role model and show you, in my upcoming Facebook live chats, how the 12 soft skills recognized in the book allowed Jesus to succeed in His earthly ministry more than 2000 years ago. Those of you who are interested to read the book, which is written for anyone regardless of your religious affiliation and based on a case study in one of the leading research organizations, is available on Amazon.

However, as a way of giving back to the continent I came from, Africa and my own fellow Habesha leaders, professionals, and business owners who understand English, I’ll show you how Jesus, other Biblical characters, and past and contemporary leaders from the corporate world have had these soft skills that contributed to their outstanding success.

I’ll share with you insights, stories, and most importantly, tools that can help you take your already existing soft skills to the next height. This is especially transformational to the immigrant community in the Diaspora. Your talents, gifts, intellect, hard work, and so on aren’t enough to succeed in the West. I’ll post more updates on my facebook account before the launch of this live chat. In the meantime, I’d like to hear your suggestions. I also encourage you to share this good news with the people you know who may benefit from this program.

Get Involved- Upcoming projects at AHM

In this email, I’d like to give you a quick update concerning what has been happening at AHM, and future projects so that you may be part of what is happening. You may pray for the success of what we do, volunteer, and/or give other supports where you can.

Last year, we began producing two homemade video shows:

  1. a) 1-Minute of Power
  2. b) The Hour of Greatness. The YouTube channel can be found in the top right corner of our website:assegid.org. By the way, I’ve done two facebook live chats in Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia, based on two videos that were produced in English.

I’ve a plan to start a facebook live program to empower Christians in the corporate world to improve their soft skills. If you are interested or if you know someone who may benefit from it, please advise them to like our facebook page so that they may get a notification when we start this important project.

The live program is based on the book ‘Soft Skills That Make or Break Your Success’. In this weekly live chat, which will be launched within a few weeks and may continue up to 3 months, immigrants and Habeshas are the primary target audience though anyone who understands English could join. By the way, though the book is written for anyone who is interested, in the live program, on top of some insights, facts, and tools, I intend to use Jesus as an example of how His soft skills contributed toward the success of His earthly ministry.

In the future, when God provides the resources, we plan to produce a teaching video program and a show that interviews successful Christians from the corporate world in a professional studio.

We are also praying for resources necessary to broadcast and stream these shows on some cable or satellite networks, and Internet platforms, respectively, to reach out more Christians beyond the DC metro area.

We also plan to start a service in the DC metro area for African immigrants including second-generation Ethiopians and Eritreans, who don’t understand the official language in their communities’ churches.

On top of the above two projects, God spoke to my heart to empower immigrant Christians by offering the following two services:

  • Leadership training for church and ministry leaders, administrators and volunteers, and
  • Soft Skill workshops for Christian business owners and professionals.

Please pray for us to get the necessary funding and also to serve God’s people with excellence.

Please pray for the success of these projects. If you would like to volunteer or if you may have any suggestion or advice, please give me a call at 703-895-4551 or email me @ assegidhm@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you…
