Increasing your awareness to uncover your blind spots

Jesus solicited feedbacks to know what people thought of Him. He asked His disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” (Matthew 16: 13).

If Jesus- the all knowing (John 2: 24) sought for feedback, what about us? We need to seek feedback and even beg for it.

We need to go extra mile to know what others think of us…

Successful spiritual leaders don’t feel bad when they discover their failings and limitations.

They use the feedback to grow and make progress…

Since they’re so confident that they are not scared of hearing what they don’t want to hear.

They fully understand that, like every one else, they have certain blind spots. They are not naive… They seek for feedback to uncover their blind spots…

They are aware of the need to hear what others have to say whether they agree with the latter’s opinion or not…

Because of that, such leaders grow consistently, and become better. They don’t allow themselves to become outdated, and irrelevant as leaders…

If your desire is to grow and become like those who made extra ordinary impact and those who are still making in this generation, seek 360-degree feedback (from the people who report to you, your superiors, peers, and other stakeholders…). Know your limitations and blind spots…

The more you’re open to know more about yourself (both strengths and limitations), the more you tap into your potential, and remove things that sabotage your success.

Rather than settling only for what you already know about yourself, be BOLD to seek constructive feedback from others to increase your awareness, develop self-mastery, and grow continually to release your potential, and at the end of the day get fulfilled.

Are You Willing to Shoulder the Burden of Pursuing Your Passion?

Mother Teresa believed that she was called by God to ‘be my light’. What is your call/passion?

This call came with a steep price. What are the prices you have paid thus far as you pursue your passion?

Not long after receiving her call, the presence of God she had prior her call vanished, and she found herself alone in the dark for a very long period of time.

Surely, this was not what she had expected initially. She was in the light, and ready to go into the darkness the light with her side. I want you to think about your expectations before you stepped out to pursue your passion? Have you found yourself disappointed? Have you felt forsaken? What do you feel right now?
Mother Teresa, was hopeless. Even if she pleaded God for answer, silence was what she got back. She then turned to her spiritual mentors for answer. She wrote private letters to them explaining her predicament. Believing that the letters won’t be public, she poured out her heart. She thought she had done something wrong and offended God. She sought help and answer for her desperation from men when the Divine was quite…
Are you filled with questions? Are you desperate to get clear answers? Are you wondering whether you were wrong about your passion? Are you tempted to think that you have done something terrible and you have been punished? You’re not alone.
Hope, you may relate to Mother Teresa’s story and get comfort if you’re desperate and wondering why you’re facing the challenges you’re passing through lately…

The responses she got from her mentors, however, were revealing.
They encouraged her to endure. Informed her that her call to light people up requires her to pass through the dark, the darkness the people she was called were passing through. What a revelation!

Many of us misunderstand what it takes to respond to a call/passion, and pursue it.

We are ready to serve others who are misfortunate. Initially, we are happy and cannot wait to launch ourselves in serving others and pursue our passion.

But, many of us quickly give up. We blame ourselves, or worst others, when we experience that the same thing we have a burden to fight and take away from others. We undermine or neglect the plain fact that, without this exposure, we cannot serve others properly. Without passing through what the people are experiencing, we won’t have authenticity and credibility. We cannot relate with the people we serve, let alone liberate them free…

Besides, how can we help others if we have never done it ourselves? If we’ve never overcome it? If we have never passed through it triumphantly?

That is why Ken Kesey said, “You don’t lead by pointing and telling people some place to go. You lead by going to that place and making a case.”

Well, for Mother Teresa, it ended well. She finally embraced the darkness she was passing through when she said, “If I ever become a Saint- I’ll surely be one of “darkness.” I’ll continually be absent from Heaven- to light the light of those in darkness on earth.” Will you?

You’ll get there!

In Chapter 14 of the book of Matthew, we read that Jesus walked on the lake to catch up with His disciples.

Once in awhile we face barriers that stand between us and our goals.

When we don’t have the necessary provisions to overcome these barriers, we are left with one option, to depend on our faith!

For Jesus, the boat had left. No other transportation means was available to catch up with His disciples. The only chance He had was to tap into the invisible world where the impossible is possible through faith.

He defiled the principle that governs fluids and stood vertically and walked on the water, and the latter obeyed Him!

  • What is standing between you and where you want to arrive?
  • What are the principles that govern your situation that are resisting your FORWARD movement?

With faith, you can defile these principles. You can get there regardless of the tones of barriers that stare at you!

Remember, it doesn’t matter how we get there, the biggest question is whether we have the faith to breakthrough the barrier and get there.

Some of us may ‘walk’ on it. Some of us may ‘swim’ through it. It doesn’t matter how…

You’ll get there!
